Xact Impact Natural Pest Management uses only natural, organic, botanical and biological pest-control products to achieve superior pest-control results without the side effects (problems) of traditional pest control.
Overview of Pesticides
A simplified definition of a pesticide is any substance for preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any pest. Pesticides are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency in accordance with the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) requirements. Individual states also have laws that govern pesticide definition and use. The EPA defines three classes of pesticides:
- Restricted Use—the most toxic of all pesticides. These pesticides are defined as those that may cause adverse effects on the environment, and/or the applicator. They generally will be available only to certified applicators. Xact Impact Natural Pest Management does not use any restricted-use pesticides.
- General Use—pesticides that have a lower toxicity than restricted-use pesticides and so less potential to harm humans or the environment.
- Minimum Risk— are products exempted from EPA registration and contain only active ingredients outlined in FIFRA 40 CFR 152.25(g) (“the 25b list”) and inert ingredients currently identified on Federal Register Notice 59 FR 49400 (“the 4A list”). The EPA has determined the ingredients on these lists do not pose any risk to humans or the environment. Minimum Risk products can provide fast knockdown and kill of broad spectrum of insects and other pests and, for the most part, use active ingredients that are considered "food" to human or pets.
Xact Impact Natural Pest Management uses only Minimum Risk and General Use pest-control products.
Problems with Traditional Pesticides
Traditional synthetic pesticide can cause a number of unwanted side effects including:
- Acute poisoning in humans, such as mild to severe illness or death.
- Chronic effects in humans, including cancer, birth defects, and reproductive disorders.
- Allergic effects in humans.
- Environmental problems, such as groundwater contamination and wildlife damage.
- Unintended killing of beneficial insects such as ladybugs.
Xact Impact Natural Pest Management Products
Our systems uses natural, organic, botanical and biological products in various formulations including liquids, gels, granules and dust. All of our products are either EPA Minimum Risk (which are generally regarded as safe) or EPA General Use products. We also use a variety of traps.

Description |
Boric Acid | A compound derived from boron, a naturally occurring mineral. Boric Acid acts as a stomach poison and causes insects to die from starvation. We use Boric Acid-based products in various formulations ranging from dust, granules, gels and liquids. These products can control common household insects as well as wood-infesting beetles and termites. |
Limestone | Limestone is a sedimentary rock consisting mainly of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate) that was deposited by the remains of marine animals. We use ground-up limestone as a desiccant to control spiders, cockroaches, ants, crickets, silverfish, earwigs, snails, aphids, mites, bed bugs, termites, scorpions, fleas, ticks, flies, bees, yellow jackets, wasps, and other flying insects. |
Diatomaceous Earth | The fossilized remains of tiny, one-celled organisms called diatoms. It kills insects by scratching their waxy outer covering and causing them to dehydrate. We use only "natural grade" diatomaceous earth, which is quite different than the diatomaceous earth sold for use in swimming pool filters. Diatomaceous earth is used to control cockroaches, ants, silverfish, fleas and other pests. |
Nematodes | A microscopic worm that lives in soil that acts as a biological control agent. We use nematode species that are parasitic on insects and can be used to control insect pests. These nematodes carry bacteria that can kill pests like fleas, but don't harm people or pets. |
Mint Oil & Peppermint Oil | Pressed from the leaves of the spearmint or peppermint plant, the oils are a repellant for mosquitoes, gnats, ants, flies, cockroaches, mice, yellow jackets and other flying pests. |
Eugenol | Eugenol is extracted from clove oil and cinnamon. It is active against ants, fleas, flies, yellow jackets, cockroaches and other crawling insects. |
Garlic | Dried and ground from garlic cloves and active against ants, aphids, and mosquitoes. |
Pheromone Traps | Pheromone traps use "bug hormones" or scents that stimulate the type of scent produced by the female insect to seduce or lure their male counterparts. Males lured into traps are prevented from mating. |
Insect & Rodent Traps | Specially designed traps that provide a non-pesticide (mechanical) means of monitoring and reducing insect and rodent populations. |
Rodent/Animal Catch and Release Cages | Physical traps/cages used in a humane manner to catch, transfer and release unwanted animals in or around a home. |
